The Ins and Outs of a water damage clean up
  • Water Damage Clean Up

Water damage is a nightmare to deal with. It is really hard to even figure out where to start from in terms of fixing it. The Tile and Stone Specialists will guide you through the steps of a water damage restoration. This is mostly an outline and is meant to provide an understanding of how the process works. This blog post isn’t meant to be a “Do it yourself” guide because The Tile and Stone Specialists really don’t recommend doing this alone. The reason behind that is, it is likely to be dangerous and inefficient if carried out by people who are not professional. So, without further ado, here are the ins and outs of a water damage restoration.

Removal of water

The first thing that is done during a water damage restoration is removing the water. Water is soaked up using cloths or water vacuums. Then the source of the water is identified and sealed so that no more water is leaking.

Removal of the floor

Since the floor is damaged, it needs to be replaced. Next, the floor is removed.

Replacement of the floor

After the old, damaged floor has been removed, the new floor must now be installed. A recheck of the water source is usually done to make sure that there is no water leaking and that there isn’t any chance of more water damage to the new floor.

Finishing off

Finishing touches are provided on the new floor. It is sanded, polished, stained, and coated to give it a professional and presentable look. If a good job is done, no one will ever be able to tell that there ever was water damage in that spot. As mentioned above, we do not recommend doing this sort of restoration by yourself.
